7. The Hong Kong Legislative Council on January 12th held the first reading of a new Ordinance to control the entry, exit, and movement within the Colony of persons not born therein. The new Ordinance is aimed at consolidating and clarifying existing legislation governing entry and movement of persons not born within the Colony, and should enable more stringent control to be exercised. It will be useful should it be necessary to adopt a stricter immigration policy.
